FINAL THOUGHT
Avatar is a good movie with plenty of eye-popping moments. Moviegoers will certainly get their money’s worth if they are looking for a great sci-fi experience with tons of top-notch special effects. However, the story borrows heavily from other movies in the genre, which makes several of the so-called “plot-twists” very, very predictable. The scenario is all too familiar: a technologically advanced race of “bullies” invades a peaceful planet full of chumps who basically must defend themselves with little more than sticks and stones. Blah, Blah, Blah…….Yawn! Avatar’s plot is about as cookie-cutter as it gets, especially for Sci-Fi fans who have seen any of the dozens of other movies that have had a similar plot. Rather than create an entirely new experience, Avatar simply slaps a fresh coat of paint on an old one. Ultimately, Avatar is an entertaining movie with great special effects, but don’t expect anything earth-shattering.
