| NBA 2K10: The overall presentation is as impressive as ever. Outstanding graphics, player animations, and player models (this game almost LOOKS real!). The new ‘My Player’ mode is deep and fun. Kevin Harlan and Clark Kellogg do a good job of calling the game. You truly feel like you’re in a real NBA arena. | The gameplay is not as polished as the presentation. Some frustrating issues from past versions are still present. Controls feel unintuitive at times and are still difficult to master. The player you’re controlling doesn’t always do what you want him to. Playing defense is much harder than it should be. |

| NBA Live 10: MAJOR improvement over the half-baked versions from years past. The extremely polished gameplay feels like a true ‘simulation’ of the sport. The controls and the pace of the game feel just right. The AI reacts realistically to on-court situations. Online play is smooth and fun. | Not the best looking game. Overall presentation still needs some fine-tuning. Weird things still happen like the ball morphing through hands. Marv Albert and Steve Kerr’s commentary is almost embarrassing. |
FINAL RESULT: NBA Live 10 slightly gets the nod this year for making the biggest improvements from one year to the next while NBA 2K10 pretty much stuck to its guns. NBA Live’s presentation still isn’t up to NBA 2K10’s standards, but fine-tuning the gameplay has allowed it to pose a viable threat to 2K’s supremacy for the first time in years.

I have no idea why EA has not changed commentators in 3 or 4 years. They have a ESPN agreement, and they only use it to stream Sports Center updates. Which bewilders my why have that stupid NFL network show on Madden. NFL 2K2 did it he best with Chris Berman.
I f—–g hate ISO motion but I think I will try 2K10 this year.

I do remember when 2K Sports had the ESPN license. They definitely used it better than EA has so far. I think NFL 2K5 had Chris Berman too. The license now seems wasted on EA’s games.
I’ve always hated the ISO motion controls! NBA Live’s freestyle control was always better, even when the rest of the game was bad. Let me know if you do decide to eventually get Live. I’m planning on starting an online league in that too once the Madden league is finished.

Gamespot.com just gave NBA 2K10 it’s lowest review in years…..7.0 out of 10!!! I agree that the game wasn’t as good as last years version but I wasn’t expecting a review score this low!
