After finally finishing the main quest in Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion this past Summer (it took me 4 years to complete!), I finally delved into Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim recently. I have one word: INCREDIBLE! Skyrim improves on the already successful Elder Scrolls formula in almost every way and produces a gaming experience that must be seen to be believed! Somehow, the development team at Bethesda Software found a way to improve one of the most immersive games ever created! I’m preparing for my life to melt away over the next few months….

I finally finished Batman: Arkham City a couple weeks ago and I must say that it pretty much lived up to my expectations! The game was just long enough to put together a solid, consistent story without being convoluted. Also, Batman faces off against twice as many super villains than in Arkham Asylum (no spoilers; I’ll let you find out for yourself!). The only negative that I see is that many of those boss fights were a bit too easy and could be completed after one or two tries. Side missions are separate from the main story and they’re typically broken up into a series of smaller investigations before completing the full mission. Most of the side missions are cool, overall, but completing the various mini-investigations doesn’t always point you in the direction of your next clue, so you often have to wait until you randomly stumble across the next phase of the investigation. Batman is known for being the world’s greatest detectives and it’s unfortunate that you never really get that feeling because of the random nature of some of the side missions. The Catwoman missions are also fun and do a pretty solid job of further fleshing out the story.
Batman: Arkham City is an excellent game and will get plenty of well-deserved votes for 2011 Game of the Year. However, there are still some opportunities to enhance the experience of controlling one of the all-time greatest comic book badasses. I’m looking forward to the next game in the series!!!

This is a pretty cool video that shows some great footage of the vast countryside of Skyrim. The video is complete with a narrating tour guide and everything. Funny!
